FAQ
Does creating a static QR code send my data to QRNest?
No. Static codes for URLs, text, email, phone, Wi-Fi, vCard, and WhatsApp are drawn in your browser. The payload is not uploaded. It reaches the server only if you create an account and explicitly save template content.
Can I edit a static code after I print it?
No. A static code contains the payload itself. Changing a URL, password, or phone number means making and printing a new code. Dynamic links are the exception: the printed code stores a short address, and the destination can be edited later.
What is a dynamic link?
A dynamic link is a short /r/ address stored for your account. The QR code points at that address. When someone opens it, QRNest redirects their browser to the current destination and records a scan. The server does not fetch or preview the destination itself.
Do you store Wi-Fi passwords or contact details?
Not by default. The Wi-Fi and vCard forms run locally. A saved template keeps colors, size, margin, and error correction. Field values are stored only if you check the consent box, which says so before you save.
Why did the scan check fail?
The check decodes the preview in this browser. It fails when contrast is low, the quiet zone is tiny, the content is too long, or a logo covers too much of the symbol. It is a useful test, not a promise that every camera will scan the printed code. Try a phone before you print a large run.
Which file should I download?
PNG is the usual choice for screens and office printers. SVG stays sharp at any size for design tools. PDF is a single page with the PNG placed on it, for people who need to hand a print file to someone else.
What do scan statistics include?
For dynamic links, QRNest stores the time of each redirect and a daily hash of the visitor IP. The dashboard shows a total, an approximate distinct-visitor count, and the last 14 days. Raw IP addresses and user-agent strings are not stored. The same person on two days can count twice, and people behind one network can collapse into one hash per day.
How do I delete my account?
From the dashboard, delete the account with your email and password. That removes the user, sessions, templates, dynamic links, scan events, and contact messages sent from that email. Security audit entries may still mention the email so the operator can see that the deletion happened.
Do you take card payments?
Only when the server operator has connected Stripe. If billing is not configured, QRNest does not show a payment button and does not pretend a purchase succeeded. Card numbers are never stored here. Stripe handles the card form when checkout is enabled.
Can staff read my QR codes?
Another customer cannot. Support and admin staff cannot open your templates or link list through the normal API. An admin can export stored data only after a legal request is recorded with a written justification. Support can open that request but cannot run the export. Wi-Fi and contact fields that you never consented to store are not in the export, because they are not in the database.
