The link has to be a real wa.me URL
QRNest builds https://wa.me/<digits> and adds the text as a query parameter. The result is checked as an https URL before the code is drawn.
The chat opens only if that number is on WhatsApp. The message is still visible inside the QR symbol, so do not put private details in the prefill.
